Policy Analyst - Hong Kong

This position is based in Hong Kong.

The area: Public Policy and Government Relations

It's our team's job to inform and educate elected officials, regulators, and other policy makers about our approach to the big public policy issues of day. Technology moves fast, so it's important we spend time working with the people creating laws and rules to help them understand the issues we care about and that affect our users. Google touches a lot of public policy debates, so we are looking for quick-witted, entrepreneurial, and intellectually curious people to join the team. To succeed here you'll need to be able to combine creativity with the organizational skills to manage numerous different projects to tight deadlines all at once, as well as enjoy working with a wide range of policy makers. It's never quiet, never boring, and things can happen pretty quickly - so you'll need to be a proactive self-starter who also is an enthusiastic team player. We have a healthy appetite for risk, so you'll always be ready to try new ways of doing things.

The role: Policy Analyst

As a Policy Analyst, you will work on global public policy issues and government affairs for Google. Key issues will include those relating to privacy, content regulation, freedom of speech, advertising, intellectual property, and technology policy generally.

You will work with the rest of the Google’s public policy team to advance public policy positions and related activities reflecting the goals and values of the company. As part of a closely coordinated global team, the you will impact initiatives of central importance to Google's mission.

Responsibilities:

• Research new policy positions for review by Google's policy and management teams.
• Work with industry and public interest partners to advance Google’s policy agenda.
• Work with broad cross-functional teams to implement and engage in public policy initiatives.
• Assist in the management of relationships with key policymakers and their staff.
• Support strategies to communicate policy positions to key constituencies in Asia Pacific and worldwide.

Requirements:

• BA/BS degree preferred with a strong academic record. Graduate work a plus.
• Able to juggle multiple projects at one time and work in a fast-paced environment independently and as a team player.
• Experience in Internet and/or high technology areas of business preferred.
